South Dakota

So, what's in South Dakota you ask. Well, it's Mount Rushmore of course, oh and the Jewel Caves are there too. The day before we went to South Dakota it hailed which was insane. The hail stones were actually the size of quarters, which was crazy for us. Anyway, when we went to Mount Rushmore it was so beautiful even though it was about to rain. But I just can't believe how they carved the faces out of the rock. If the money wasn't a problem for carvers then it would only have taken 5 years, which was amazing. Then the next day we went to Bear Country which is a drive through zoo with all the wild animals. It was so awesome to see tons of bears, wolves, and even the babies of all the animals. I am having computer problem, it's probably because of the low service of wi-fi that I have. However, I will put the pictures up later.

Jewel Caves

Wow, it's been a long time since my last post. Sorry that it has been such a long time, but the places that we stayed didn't have wi-fi. But since my last post we sure have traveled, we are actually in Pennsylvania right now. But, in the next few posts I will update you on what we have done.

The Jewel Caves were so beautiful in Wyoming. It is the second largest cave in the United States, and in fact we are going to the largest cave later in our crazy trip. There is not much to explain about them, but I guess the pictures will explain. I will have to post them later due to problems, but they will be on later.

More Yellowstone Pictures

Yellowstone

Well, we are now done with our adventure in Yellowstone and it was amazing. The first day we spent driving around the lower region of the circle. We visited the Mammoth Caves, however, it was sad to see that most of the sulfur sites, the orange areas if you've been, have mostly dried up. However, the waterfalls that we saw were beautiful and the sulfur sites that we did see were pretty amazing. We saw tons of animals moose, buffalo, and deer. The next day was probably one of the best days for us. We drove around with the family of Clint's schoolmate and had a blast. The first area that we went to was Old Faithful, but we just didn't see Old Faithful. In fact we only saw Old Faithful from a little ways away, but we saw the Grand Geyser, which was amazing. The Grand is the world's largest predictable geyser and it was a site to see, which was 5 min after Old Faithful and the Grand also erupted when Castle (another geyser) erupted. It was so beautiful and it was amazing that we got to see all three within minutes of each other. After our geyser viewings we toured around Yellowstone more. We saw more geysers and sulfur pools, which were beautiful. It was also tons of fun just looking at the wildlife for hours, but on our way back we saw so much wildlife it was unbelievable. First we saw a wolf, but then we realized that there was a grizzly with 2 cubs with it. Then as we continued, we saw 2 brown bears. Then again, we stopped and saw another bear and a white wolf. It was just great. As we all said that day, it couldn't have been a more amazing day. Now, we are in South Dakota and will be heading over to Mount Rushmore tomorrow. Grand Tetons

Well, after Salt Lake we made it to Jackson Hole where the Tetons are. Let's just say it was awfully chilly there. To give you a little background it was snowing and raining there everyday before we had gotten there. So, it was basically in the 50s and 60s; maybe it is not cold to most but for Californians it was chilly for summer. Anyway we went to Jackson Hole and went up the gondola to see the beautiful sites and to hang out in the snow. That evening we went out on a float trip on the Snake River, which is where we saw tons of wildlife. We saw moose, deer, eagles, and beaver. It was a chilly trip, but so worth it (chilly here is 40 degrees and a bit less). After that we went off to Yellowstone National Park. If you want to know what Teton means just look it up in a French dictionary, I don't want to write the real meaning now.

Salt Lake City

Sorry that it has been a while since my last post, but all the areas that we have been staying have not had internet. So, on day three we drove to Salt Lake City, Utah. We didn't do that much, but the most interesting thing that we saw, besides Temple Square, was the mines. If you don't know the Bingham Canyon mines in Utah produce 17% of the country's copper. It also produces gold and silver, plus other minerals. The mine was huge and it was pretty crazy to see how many people worked on the mine. They definitely could not build a mine like this in California. After seeing Temple Square we went to the Salt Lake itself. It was to cold to go in, since it was in the 50s that day. But, the water was really salty, you could even see and taste the salt. After that we went over to Jackson Hole and Yellowstone, which I will talk about in my next post.

What Happens In Vegas...Won't Stay in Vegas

Well, we have officially left Vegas and we are now in Salt Lake City, Utah Let me recap what we have done since we left on Monday. After leaving home we went to Vegas and had tons of fun. On Monday we went go-karting, let's just say that I won't be a professional go-kart racer. Actually I don't think any of us will. These go-karts went 45 mph and we really fun, but I was terrible. The other three were pretty good except we were killed by these 3 guys who go-kart all the time. Basically, we all (meaning me mostly) looked stupid as these three guys kept passing by us. After, we met up with one of the girls from Clint's school, Devon, and her family then went to Love (the Cirque show with Beatles music). As I said in my last post it was fantastic and we had a wonderful time. After we walked around the strip, and well I've never seen so many women who dressed so seductively, if you get my drift. Still, though, it was tons of fun. Tuesday was also really fun because we actually were able to walk around the strip and go in a bunch of different hotels. First we went to the 4 story M&M store which was pretty cool, the pictures will show. Then we went to New York, New York and went on the roller coaster there, which was pretty cool. It was a very fun ride. After finding that the Sahara ride was closed we went to the Adventuredome in Circus Circus. If you haven't been, you definitely should go next time that you are in Vegas. Basically it's a small amusement park inside of a huge dome. We went on the roller coaster there as well, which was actually pretty crazy. It went really fast and although it was small it had 2 loops and a corkskrew right after another. I now know why the website gave it 7 screams. The water ride was fun too, and some of the other rides. After that we went to see another show, Stomp. We had tickets in the 7th row in the center, which was pretty amazing. Thanks to my dad for getting us free tickets from the founder. The show was fantastic, it was incredible to see how they made beats out of trash cans, lighters, keys, sinks, sand, and anything else that you find at your house. If you ever get the chance to see them it is amazing. Anyway, here we are in Salt Lake City. Today was just a long day of driving and tomorrow will bring a new adventure.

Vegas!

Hello from beautiful Las Vegas. We got here yesterday morning after we left Chatsworth. It's been hot, but nice temperature here in the city that never sleeps. We've seen two shows in the last two days, Love (Cirque about the Beatles) and Stomp tonight. I will post more in the morning with more details and also with pictures.
